About

In this immersive course, students step into the role of a Junior Forensic Science Detective and explore one of the most powerful identification tools used in modern forensic science: fingerprint analysis. Through structured, hands-on lab activities using their forensic kit, students will learn how investigators identify, classify, and compare fingerprints to connect evidence to individuals. From analyzing ridge patterns to documenting comparison points, learners will apply the scientific method to real-world style case scenarios designed specifically for ages 8–13. But this course goes beyond fun activities. Students will develop essential STEM skills including: -Careful observation and pattern recognition -Evidence documentation and data recording -Logical elimination and comparative analysis -Scientific reasoning and hypothesis testing Throughout the program, learners complete guided lab challenges, record findings in professional-style forensic reports, and apply their knowledge in a final case investigation. By the end of the course, students will be able to: -Differentiate between loop, whorl, and arch fingerprint patterns -Identify ridge characteristics used in forensic comparisons -Explain how fingerprint evidence supports investigations -Conduct a structured comparison between unknown and known prints Designed for homeschool families, this course balances engaging role-play with academically sound instruction. Parents receive access to learning objectives, skill development outlines, and progress tracking tools to ensure meaningful educational outcomes. Whether your child is fascinated by mysteries or interested in future STEM careers, this program provides a structured and exciting introduction to the science behind forensic identification.
